Lead flashing and slate tiles around a chimney stack on a residential roof

Five Star Roofing is a sole-trader roofing business based in Tadley, Hampshire, run by James Fenton. James has been working as a roofer for over 16 years and handles every job personally — no subcontractors and no quotes passed on to someone else. From the first call to the final day on site, you deal with the same person throughout. When James says he will be there, he will be there.

The business covers the full range of roofing work: new roofs, roof repairs, flat roofing, tiling and slating, felt and batten replacement, guttering, fascias and soffits, loft ventilation, ridge tiles, and chimney repairs. Small repairs get the same attention as large re-roofing projects. The approach does not change with the size of the job — find the problem, fix the problem.

Five Star Roofing is based in Tadley and covers a 30-mile radius across Hampshire and Berkshire — including Reading, Basingstoke, Camberley, Fleet, Newbury, Andover, Bramley, Farnborough, and Thatcham. All estimates are free and carry no obligation to proceed. If you have a roofing job that needs looking at, call James on 07311 736 440 and he will come and take a look.

Frequently Asked Questions

What areas do you cover?

Five Star Roofing is based in Tadley and covers a 30-mile radius — including Reading, Basingstoke, Camberley, Fleet, Newbury, Andover, Bramley, Farnborough, and Thatcham. James also covers the surrounding villages and towns across Hampshire and Berkshire. If you are not sure whether we come to your area, give us a call and James will let you know.

Are you insured?

Yes — Five Star Roofing carries full public liability insurance. James Fenton has been working in roofing for over 16 years and carries out all work personally, so you know exactly who is on your roof. References from previous customers are available on request.

How much does a roof repair cost?

The cost depends on the type of damage, the materials needed, and how much access work is involved. A minor tile repair is a very different job from a full felt and batten replacement or a new ridge system. The only way to give an accurate price is to come and see the roof — which James does for free, with no obligation to proceed. Call or use the form below to arrange a visit.

How long does a new roof take?

Most residential re-roofs take between two and five days depending on the size of the property, the pitch of the roof, and the materials involved. James will give you a realistic timeframe as part of the free estimate, including any access or scaffolding work that may be needed. He will not give you a shorter estimate just to win the job.

Do you guarantee the work?

Yes — all work carried out by Five Star Roofing is fully guaranteed. James also provides a 14-day cooling off period on all jobs as standard. Free estimates and advice are available on every job. If you have any concerns about work that has been completed, James will come back and sort it out.
